About Us

My name is Sissi Molina, licensed esthetician and owner at Selfcare Esthetics in Coral Gables. I hold a Bachelor’s degree and Healthcare Administration as well as a Master’s in Business Administration. After 7 years in the healthcare field I decided to obtain my Esthetician’s license and create a space where clients would feel disconnected from their busy world and get their favorite anti-aging treatment in the hands of someone they could trust and within an environment where they felt safe. Skin care has always been my true passion and I’ve been on the client’s side for many years. I’ve tried facials and many kinds of anti-aging treatments at numerous places throughout the past 15 years. I’ve made sure to learn my Do’s and Don’ts, always keeping the client’s satisfaction as my main interest. My goal is to provide clear expectations and work together with each of my clients to create a personalized skin care plan to achieve healthy and beautiful skin results. I named us Selfcare Esthetics because I believe in Self care. When we get a facial treatment this is a time where we walk away from everything and invest in ourselves to feel at our best.
We are restoring the balance of our skin but at the same time we are feeling pampered and cared for. For me, it’s not only about giving my clients the best skin care service I can provide but also with the incorporation of massage, aromatherapy and music therapy my goal is to create an experience of complete relaxation and disconnect so that my clients feel like a new, recharged and restored version of themselves with each visit!

Frequently Asked Questions

What is self-care?

Self-care is the intentional practice of caring for one's physical, mental, and emotional well-being. It involves activities and habits that promote self-nurturing, relaxation, and overall personal growth. Self-care can include various practices such as mindfulness, exercise, healthy eating, skincare, hobbies, and engaging in activities that bring joy and fulfillment.

Why is self-care important?

Self-care is essential for maintaining overall well-being. It helps reduce stress, prevent burnout, and enhance resilience. Self-care activities can improve mental health, boost self-esteem, and promote a positive mindset. Taking time to care for oneself allows individuals to recharge, restore energy, and better manage the demands of daily life.

How to build a skincare routine?

Building a skincare routine involves a few key steps:

  • Identify your skin type: Determine whether you have dry, oily, combination, or sensitive skin, as it will influence the choice of products.
  • Cleanse: Start by cleansing your face twice daily using a mild cleanser that suits your skin type to remove impurities and excess oil.
  • Exfoliate: Include exfoliation once or twice a week to remove dead skin cells and promote a brighter complexion. Choose a suitable exfoliator for your skin type.
  • Moisturize: Apply a moisturizer daily to hydrate and nourish your skin. Select a moisturizer that suits your skin type and provides the necessary hydration.
  • Protect: Use sunscreen with at least SPF 30 daily to shield your skin from harmful UV rays.
  • Optional steps: Depending on your specific needs, you can add measures like serums, toners, or targeted treatments such as acne creams or anti-aging products.

Remember, consistency is vital in skincare routines. Gradually introduce new products and monitor how your skin responds to them.

Why is skincare critical?

Skincare is crucial because it helps maintain healthy skin, prevents skin issues, and promotes a youthful appearance. A proper skincare routine can help protect the skin from environmental damage, reduce the signs of aging, improve skin texture and tone, and boost overall confidence. Skincare is not only about appearance but also about maintaining the skin's barrier function and overall health.

How often should you get a facial?

The frequency of facials depends on various factors, including skin type, skin concerns, and personal preferences. As a general guideline:

  • Standard or combination skin: Every 4-6 weeks is typically suitable for maintaining healthy skin.
  • Oily or acne-prone skin: Every 2-4 weeks may be beneficial to help manage oiliness and breakouts.
  • Dry or sensitive skin: Every 6-8 weeks or as needed, ensuring the facial treatments are gentle and hydrating.

However, consulting with a professional esthetician who can assess your skin and provide personalized recommendations based on its unique needs is essential.

What is a microdermabrasion facial?

Microdermabrasion is a non-invasive skincare procedure that exfoliates and rejuvenates the skin. It involves using a diamond tip or crystal device to remove the outermost layer of dead skin cells. This treatment helps improve skin texture, diminish the appearance of fine lines and crinkles, reduce hyperpigmentation, and promote a smoother, more radiant complexion. Licensed estheticians or dermatologists often perform microdermabrasion.

What is a dermaplaning facial?

Dermaplaning is a facial treatment that utilizes a sterile surgical blade to gently scrape away the top coat of dead skin cells and fine vellus hair (peach fuzz). This procedure helps reveal smoother skin, enhances product absorption, and makes the complexion more radiant. Dermaplaning can also help improve the appearance of fine lines, acne scars, and uneven skin texture. Trained skincare professionals typically perform it.

What is a micro-needling facial?

Microneedling is a cosmetic way that comprises using a maneuver with fine needles to create tiny punctures in the skin. These micro-injuries stimulate the skin's natural healing process, increasing collagen production and rejuvenation. Microneedling can improve fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars, and hyperpigmentation. It is commonly performed by dermatologists or licensed estheticians using professional-grade devices.
